So I wrote before that I would do a post about castor oil. I have recommended this oil to a few people who have used it and see some good results.
One of the things that I will say about any product is that check first that you aren't allergic to it. Do a patch test and see if your skin reacts to it. This is something you must do with any product you apply to your skin or hair. The second thing I would like to say is that most products dont work overnight. You won't use castor oil today and wake up to have luxurious hair tomorrow. Give it some time. I say maybe try it for about a month or two and see how your hair is responding to it.
So whats the fuss about castor oil? isnt that the stuff that people take when they are sick?! yes it is!
But castor oil is an ingredient also found in many of our cosmetic products.....
Castor oil it cleanses the scalp by removing dirt and bacteria that clog up the scalp (this clogging up is what causes dandruff). It also has healing properties that can cure scalp infections. It is a natural emollient, meaning it hydrates your hair while healing the scalp.
Benefits of castor oil:
- stimulates hair growth
- thickens hair
- moisturises hair and scalp
- contributes to overall health of scalp and hair
There are so many ways to make use of this oil:
- to seal in moisture-after using your daily moisturiser, lightly dip your fingers in the oil and use to coat the hair
- to moisturise the scalp -try using it once or twice a week to give your scalp a good massage. try not to be heavy handed with the oil. its a thick oil so I usually mix it with coconut oil. Some people have sensitive scalps and will definitely need to dilute it or possiblyavoid using it on their scalps completely
- to deep condition hair-either use it on its own as a deep conditioner or add it to your normal deep conditioner to make it more potent.
You can also use Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I find this oil is even better than the refined version. It is unrefined, its also thick but has a brownish or golden colour depending on the brand you get. I got a bottle of Tropic Isle Living JBCO from my cousin who came through from the US. I'm loving it so far., I use it on my thinning edges, and also to add to my weekly deep condish.
My old bottle of Yards JCBO was running low.
If you are in the UK you can order from SheaButter Cottage. I have used them before and have always had good service. I have not used them internationally though.
So give it a try if you are looking to thicken your hair or to try and stimulate growth......its worth a go. check it out :)
In other news....I got my bottle of Morrocan Oil today. (It smells nyom! by the way) I got it from feelunique.co.uk. I love this site! they do free deliveries, whats not to love about that? So I will be trying out the oil when I get back to SA a be doing the review in a few months when i have formed an opinion on it :)
Love,peace and happiness!
Hi I'm in Johannesburg and wondering where I can but Jamaican black Castor oil and shea butter. Bought the Castor oil B.p from checkers and it left my hair very dry...I have heard of the wonders of the Jamaican black Castor oil...tried googling and they have it somewhere for about R600(whaaaattt)!!!! for a 250ml bottle...Help!
ReplyDeleteHi Khanyi.
DeleteThanks for visiting our blog. R600 for a bottle?! oh no!!!! I tend to get my supply of JBCO when I travel overseas or when I have relatives who come down to SA to visit. So thats an option you could explore, asking someone who is going overseas to bring it down for you. If I'm in the US I buy from SamsBeauty.com, and if in UK I buy from AkuaWood.co.uk.
If you cant get your hands on these, perhaps give the castor oil bp another chance. You can mix it with coconut oil (I usually buy from healthfood stores around Joburg) or mix with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You dont need alot of it. Use a very small amount for your scalp, or for your hair. Another thing is, are you moisturising your hair before you use the castor oil?
As for the shea butter, I was lucky enough to have a friend bring me the pure stuff from Ghana. I did a quick check on google and found this South African online store that sells it. http://www.windrose.co.za/index.php?option=com_ixxocart&Itemid=6&p=product&id=108&parent=3 . I have not used them before but its worth a try if you are keen to get your hands on some Shea butter. Its quite a hard butter so you will have to soften it. Let me know if you want any shea Butter recipes :)
Hope that helps!
There's a place in Randburg that sell it http://www.ruutoshair.com/. You can also check on bid or buy. They have the super potent JBCO.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Will be placing my order soon. You can never have too much JBCO :) Thanks for sharing that information.

If you want to see marachekku oil manufaturer, please go to mara chekku manufacturers in chennai.
